this is in response to my friend who says that he has read whole guru granth sahib and haven't found anywhere where it prohibits us from eating meat. you must have read kabirji's bani. he says, " kabir bhang machli sura paan jo jo prani khahe, tirth varat nem kiye sabhe rasaathal jae" which translates to o kabir, anyone who consumes alcohol(any kind of drug), eats fish or meat (sura= meat), no matter how many religious places he visits, how many fast he keeps, how much does he prays, everything goes waste.
it clearly states that guru sahib is prohibiting us from eating meat.
you said that guru gobind sahibji might have eaten meat while living in jungle. i don't know if it is true or not but if he had, then only to survive.i think we are leading pretty decent life that we can manage to survive without eating meat.
