Sat Nam!!

You want to convert to Sikhism and want to know how?

The first thing I would do is look deeply inside myself why I want to convert to Sikhism? In other words, what is my motivation? If I am satisfied with my answer, then I would find a Sikh Gurdwara, if there is one in my area. I would ask to speak to the head minister or Bhaisahib for the Gurdwara. That person should be able to help you with what is necessary. If you don't have a gurdwara in your area, see if you can at least find a Nitnem and start to read Japji every day. Being a Sikh is more about practice than anything else. Grow your hair, start wearing the other 5 K's and begin slowly doing other practices...like not eating meat, drinking alcohol, taking recreation drugs, smoking, not speaking truth, having out of marriage sex, or working through dishonest means. It is also good to meditate to clear your subconscious mind. If after starting to practice a Sikh lifestyle, you still want to do it, then it may be time to put on a turbin and take Sikh vows ...and eventually when you are very sure, take Amrit. If you have more questions, you can also go to the Victory and Virtue book on Sikhnet, which outlines in much more detail the Sikh lifestyle. You can also email me at [email protected] Good luck.
