Summary of Question:To Whom The Gurbani Is Addressed?
Category:Meditation
Date Posted:Monday, 3/01/2004 11:04 AM MST

It seems the whole gurbani is addressed to one's mind (for example, Re Man Mere Tu Har Sion Jor - O my mind, try to unite with Him, and the like, but how to identify mind. Is it my body, is it my psyche, is it my intelligence, is it my intellect, is it my feelings, is it my sub-conscious, is it my conscious, or it is my soul? And how do I make sure that my mind is listening to it? I need to correct myself.

Sat Siri Akaal. Mind = conscious, subconscious, and unconscious. Patterns of thinking and being are in all. 80% of our thoughts come from subconscious. Mind is tricky. Mind will resist Truth if it takes too much work, which is why so many find practice of naam simran hard to keep up. It is a discipline one develops, because the mind will resist it! Gurbani addresses mind, body, self, soul, being. Some shabds say mind, some don't. Deep, constant practice on the Naam will help you control your mind and your actions/reactions. Don't get caught up in technicalities. just DO your daily naam simran and see how different you are a year from now, or two. Then you'll know.
