i hate my parents. they are like the biggest rejects ever known to man. who knew people that were so educated could be so sexist. practically all people in India are sexist. it is the most annoying thing ever. they want me to learn how to cook over the summer. im just like right...frick you...(i didnt exactly say that but you know thats what i was thinking)......and then i asked why my bro. doesnt learn how to cook...and my dad is just like girls have to know how to cook.............I HATE THEM....MORE THAN EVER! so what if im not perfect?? not everyone is like my brother...who went to boarding school for 10 years.....i dont want to be someone im not....

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Wow! Are you angry! Does being angry make you happy? BTW, the most famous chefs in the world are men (though there are some women, too.) Hating your parents is quite waste of energy. In fact, hating anyone is a waste of energy, and all you are doing is poisoning your own system with that vile attitude. So, what's the big deal if you learn to cook? It may come in handy some day when you're on your own and want something good to eat! As for the gender stereotypes, which may or may not be "sexist" -- yeah, it can be annoying, but why make such a big deal out of it? Of course, I forget, you are obviously a teen-ager, and going through that nasty period of rebellion. Well, take it easy, kid, you'll be an adult sooner than you realize, and hopefully you won't regret missing opportunities you have now to learn EVERYTHING -- whether it's "female" oriented or not! Nowadays, women can become lawyers and doctors and astronauts, but that doesn't mean that they can't also learn to cook. Sorry you're feeling so miserable, but frankly, you have the ability to change the way you feel, if you want to. You probably can't change the way your parents are, but if you change your attitude, it will make life a lot pleasanter for all of you -- unless you are determined to stay miserable. Choice is yours! It's all inside your own head. Do you ever think about God and Guru? Do you do anything to calm your mind, like meditate, or read banis? I hope so. Blessings, SP
