Summary of Question:Who Wears The Karas?

I have read many posts and learned that a real Sikh Kara is made up of Iron or Steel. I even understand its orgions. But I have seen many Hindus and Sikhs wear Gold Karas. What is that about? Because a Gold Kara should not be a Kara - I read somewhere that a Guru did not like the color, and that is why the Kara is made of Iron.

So is the purpose of a gold Kara on Hindus and Sikhs just fashion?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I think you would have to ask those who wear gold bracelets to answer your question. It is my understanding that an authentic "kara," to function as one of the five "K's" is made of iron or steel. SP
