I want to know if naam simran or doing sukhmani sahib help to change your destiny. If you are destin to suffer loss or not to have a good job after doing a degree while you see others get ahead in life with little effort. If I cannot change my destny then what is the point in doing meditation or going to gurudawra.

Please explain.

Sat Siri Akaal. Of course these things change your life. Live DHARMA (naam simran, bani, bana, seva) or live karma (feeling victimized and having bad things happen to you). Some karma you are here to pay off, other karmas you create. The more you keep an honest simran and bani practice, the more you will clear your mind and (1) know intuitively what you are to do (2) realize that there is a silver lining in every cloud, (3) become detached from the rat race that is maya, which means to be in the world, but not of it. Siri Guru Granth Sahib says over and over and over again that the benefits of remembering the Naam are 'having all accounts [=karma] erased' and 'not being stuck in Maya's grasp.' You might not see a change in your life right away. It takes a lot of discipline to keep your daily practice and then it takes time (differs for different people) to see how it changes and becomes as natural to your life as eating and sleeping. I recommend you read SGGS as a sehej paath. You can do it online (www.sikhnet.com, click on SGGS) or at home and you will see the consistency of Guru's message. You won't know, however, until you try it for yourself. Try it for 40 days. Search 'meditation' topic on this site for more naam simran advice. Guru ang sang,
