Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee Ka Fateh

At school there is few girls who ask me what is the meaning for sikh some time it is very hard to tell them. can you tell me easy way to reminder it.

one more thing
you know there is so many gods round the world like different names. but there is still one god in the world.
my friend at school tells me that what they belief is right but i tell them that what i belief is right like beliefing in waheguru jee.
so what should i tell them. or sometimes i think why is there so different names for god or is there different countrys have differnt god.
thank you for your time.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. It's pretty simple to explain. Yes, you are right, there is only ONE GOD, but people choose to worship that One God in different ways (and sometimes give that One God different names). Don't try to convince anyone that you are right and they are wrong, on the contrary, as Sikhs we respect other people's right to follow whatever religion they want. Just as people in different countries speak different languages, that doesn't make another language "wrong." Arguing about religion is not advisable, because you can never convince anyone anyway. So why bother? One Creator created this whole creation, and we Sikhs know that, and teach that. If anyone wants to accept it or not is not our problem, it's their decision. Think about the Mul Mantra, and let that be your understanding of the foundations of our belief. EK ONG KAR, SAT NAM etc. I hope this helps. Blessings!
