i am 27 yrs of age....and ive been in love w/ this girl for about 10yrs. we are both 100% practicing gursikhs and we are both doctors. the problem is that my parents do not approve of her because she does have a disease and she is a little larger than others. otherwise....they would approve of us. another rason they dont approve is because they know many other nice girls that are better than my love and would like me to be w/ one of those nice girls. i dont want to disapoint anyone, especially not myself. i cant leave her, after 10 yrs and then expect to marry someone else when my heart is w/ her. what do i do? do i tell her i cant marry you and never get married at all? it would be hard to marry some one else. or do i keep trying to convince my parents that she is the right one for me? i know she is. we make a great team. i have no idea what to do.....plz help me as best as u can....thanks.

(REPLY) Sat Nam. You are 27 years old, you are not a kid. Is the disease of the woman you love something that will prevent her from having children? Is it something that will cause her to die at at early age? These may be the concerns of your parents-- as well as the fact that she is "large." Whatever the reason, if you are a doctor, then you must be earning a living, and able to provide for a wife without financial aid from your family. So, I think that if you have truly objectively analyzed the pros and cons of a marriage, you may want to continue to try to convince your parents to approve your choice. If they will not, are you prepared to have them angry and disappointed with you? How about the woman's family? You say they know other girls who are "better." Will you someday think the same thing?
