There is Quite often mention of word 'NAAM'('NAAM JAPO') in Shri Guru Granth sahib. What does 'NAAM' actually mean? How do we meditate on this NAAM and what NAAM should we meditate on, if meditate is what NAAM JAPO implies. And if its meditation of that NAAM, then do we need to do the paath that we do every day. Why do we read out the Paath/Baanis everyday? What is the correct thing to read out the Baanis or understand the Baanis and meditate(...and on what?)?

Naam is referring to the word of God. The banis, the Siri Guru Granth Sahib is the Naam. You can meditate on any ones you like, which have meaning for you. Mulhmatra is a good one to start with. It is good to read them every day, so that you get the benefit of the sound current of the Naad (which you get by reading the banis.) It is especially good to read them outload, so that you can hear the sounds, and the vibrations will vibrate on the upper palate of the mouth. Do a search on Sound Current and Naad to get more information. GTKK
