Yes, when two people conciously agree to be married they agree to walk the path of married life together as partners, serving eachother. They agree to stick together and in God's eyes, become one. There is a story of a saintly man whose wife was always complaining and being rude. She died before him and he went before the Guru and prayed. Everyone thought he was really missing her and was asking the Guru for consolation. But he was having a discussion with God. God said "Look, she has done all of these things and this karma has earned her many more lifetimes on earth." The man said "I know, but we are married and therefore one soul so I will take this karma so that she might not have to suffer." After much discussion God agreed and the soul of the woman was liberated.
If two people agree to be married and really LIVE that life, then they will take on eachothers' karma in order to serve eachother, and pray for eachother in order to help liberate eachother. It doesn't mean they become the same person, but that their souls make a pact, sealed by the Guru.

HEY, I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE THEORY OF TWO SOULS IMERGING TOGETHER WHEN A COUPLE GET MARRIED. IF IN FACT THIS DOES HAPPEN, DOES IT MEAN THAT EITHER BOTH THE COUPLES BREAK THEIR CYCLES OF BIRTHS AND DEATHS OR NONE OF THEM. IN MANY MARRIAGES I WITNESS COUPLES THAT ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. FOR INSTANCE MY MOTHER IS VERY RELIGIOUS BECAUSE SHE PRAYS EVERY MORNING, DOESN'T EAT MEAT, AND DOESN'T CUT HER HAIR AND FOLLOWS SIKHI. MY FATHER ON THE OTHER HAND IS TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE. I NEVER SEEN HIM DO PAAT BEFORE. I SEE HIM EAT MEAT, DRINK ALCHOL AND GAMBLE. CONSIDERING THE THEORY THAT TWO SOULD IMERGE TOGETHER, DOES THAT MEAN MY MOTHER'S RELIGIOUS WAYS OF NO USE TO HER, OR DOES IT MEAN THAT MY FATHER DOES'T HAVE PRAY OR ANYTHING BECAUSE MOTHER DOES IT, AND IF SHE BREAKS HER CYCLE OF BIRTHS NAD DEATHS, WILL HE TOO. ALSO IF YOUR SOULS IMERGE TOGETHER, DOES THAT MEANS THAT YOUR KARMA IMERGES. IF SO, DOES THAT MEAN THAT MY FATHER IS GIVING MY MOTHER MORE KARMA OR DOES IS IT MEAN THAT MY MOTHER IS GETTING RID OF MY FATHER'S KARMA. I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS CONCEPT BECAUSE I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT YOUR SOUL IS YOURS AND YOU YOURSELF HAVE TO WORK TO GET RID OF YOUR KARMA, I DON'T BELIEVE IN THIS CONCEPT OF TWO SOULS IMERGING BUT IAM A STUPID FOOL, SO PLEASE DO CORRECT ME AND PROVIDE ME WITH INSIGHT.
