Sat Sri Akal,

I have read a lot of recent questions from people about why your prayers are not being answered. Well it's not about God answering prayers it's about You yourself trying to follow the path that will get you to God. Think about it this way, Life is like a board game, and all the possible paths that one can take are already written upon the board. Now depending on the decisions that you make you can decide which fork you wish to take when you hit a crossroad. A sikh will follow that path that will lead them closest to Sat Guru. If you believe you can do it, then God will inspire within your heart to take the right path. One person may have many difficult paths, another person many simple ones, but its up to us to choose which path we take, because the one who makes our hearts to beat, will take 1000 steps closer to us for every 1 step we put upon His path.
