Hi, I am a muslim guy and I am very much in love with a sikh girl. I want to marry her more then anything because she is the only girl that I have ever truly loved. We have been together for a little less than 2 years now. I have to tell you that I have a lot of respect for sikhism because its a religion that makes sense, however, at the same time I respect my own religion. Throughout our relationship I have never once asked or even thought about her converting, because I love her for who she is and I do not want her to change. The whole problem is how can we possibly convince her parents for this to happen. As everyone knows a muslim doesn't have such a great reputation in the western world today. I know what kind of person I am and I know that I will always take care of her and make her happy and now we are approaching a time where her parents really want her to get married. They even have posted her profile her on the sikhnet matrimonial site, and she really is the most beautiful girl in the world. What I want to know is what can I do other then converting to stay with the girl I love. How can we approach her parents about this topic. She is a jatt sikh, and her parents are probably looking for her to marry a sikh jatt individual, but I know I can never live without her. I also know she will never want to hurt her parents, and I don't want her to either because I have a lot of respect for her parents. I've seen a lot of marriages take place where there was a sikh girl and a non-sikh guy. WHat can we possibly do so that we can stay together and keep everyone happy at the same time. I do not want her to choose between me and her parents because if thats the case, I won't let her leave her parents. Please help me in staying with the girl that I love. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You so much and SatSriAkal.

You sound like a righteous person with your priorities straight. The Guru teaches us to trust in God to arrange your life and walk in God's Will as well as to live in truth. Guru Nanak was never a believer in religion, per say, only spirituality. If you can both be okay with having different 'religions' while both being spiritual and loving the same One God that is everywhere, you must ask her parents. It is really up to them as a family to figure it out.
May God Bless you both with the constant Love of and devotion to Him.
