Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jee

I have been asked by someone, which i struggled to satisfy the view of the other person.

The question which i neeed help with is:
1/ "Why be good? Why do we recieve happiness from God, why do we have to read Gurbani, meditate and do sewa to recieve a happy life - why? Does God have an ego to satisfy or is he that obsessed with us? WHy follow religion and why remember God?"

2/ "I don't understand why we have to keep unshorn hair! Your identity could be "just the turban". you could cut your hair but still wear a turban and be recognised a sikh... so why keep your hair? - If it is to keep the roop of image that God has given "be one with nature then one with the creator" - how do explain the cutting of nails? We cut them with nail cutters so what is the difference with hair - god has given us a brain to evolve with time not to hinder human progress"

These questions come from another "Sikh" however they dont seem to understand concept of Hair = royal stamp or God's gift.. they wish a answer which satisfies the above points... URGENT HELP PLEASE!

Many thanks... god bless you & your families with long and happy lives!

Often people will challenge and dilute our faith by asking questions like this.

1.The reason to be good is that we are creations of a Creator who gave us this life and breath as a gift. Living a life of grace and consciousness is how we show gratitude to the One who gave us this Human body.

All life is a gift. Every life has 8.4 million lifetimes in a body. You can be a rock, a stone, a one celled organism, a fish, a bird, an elephant and so on.

However, we are human beings now. We can choose our actions now. Our choice can be to make good use of this life or to waste this life. The human body with it's choices is a gift that we have earned after millions of lifetimes.

Our highest capacity for this human life is to recognize our source which is our Creator and to live in gratitude to this Creator. Very few people in this world are blessed to have this point of view. Very few people have a guide in their lives like Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Our Siri Guru Granth Sahib has been given to us to be the guide in our life and to teach us how to live in grace and gratitude.

You can use the SGGS in your life and share what you learn with others. This is our purpose in this Kalyug.

2. What makes you think that cutting bodily hair is a sign of progress? This attitude is a very narrow perspective. The hair on our body is a subtle form of attenna for chanelling energy and for the protection of the magnetic field of our body and subtle body. When you cut or shave your hair, beard etc, you are disadvantaging yourself. You make yourself more vulnerable to stress more vulnerable to outside negativity, you weaken yourself.

The Rehit Maryada is a technology of optimum living of a human being. It is modern and will become more and more relevant as societies become more and more deteriorated.

May God bless you with a deep and steady meditation to go deep deep into the core of your being to understand the wisdom and power of the Guru within you.

God bless you, SKKK
