Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I am writing this to respond to the question that is diwali a sikh holiday?

The answer is YES Diwali (Deepawali) is a Sikh festival too. Hindus celebrate it because on Diwali day Sri Ram Chander came home from 14 years of excile, so in his return people displayed their joy by puting up candels and oil lamps in front of their homes and inside their homes. Hindus celebrate Diwali for this reason.
However, Sikhs have a differnt reason for celebrating Diwali. Sikh celebrate Diwali because on this day our Sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib were released from Gwalior prison. He also freed 52 hill chiefs from the prison along with him. Guru Hargobind Sahib was released from prison on the same day as Diwali. When Sikhs heard this news in Punjab Amritsar they were very happy, so to show their happiness they put up candels, oil lamps in in Sri Harmandir Sahib. As a sign of well coming Guru Sahib and feeling happy on his return to Punjab.

Since Sikhs celibrate diwali and Hindus do too ,so its just became a mutual thing for both. I hope this helps.
Guru Rakha
