Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Khalsa Ji.

I would like to know whether doing Paath or singing shabads a sign for other people to think that we are trying to impress them. Whenever I do Paath or sing praises of God then my mother thinks that I am only pretending to the Paath because I am the only one in the world who is an amritdhari that's what she thinks. I just cannot tolerate this anymore as it has only been 2 months since I have become an amritdhari therefore if could advise me that would be really helpul.
Thank You

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I'm sorry that your mother takes such an unfortunate view of your spiritual efforts. Please don't let her discourage you. When you sing from your heart, and do Paath with the intention of understand and connecting with your Guru, then it really doesn't matter what ANYBODY thinks. Your relationship with God and Guru is strictly a personal one, and I feel sad that your mother is discouraging you. Possibly you can do your Paath and singing more privately? Do not give up! May God bless you and Guru inspire and guide you. SP
