Satnam ji, and thank you for your views... I've been vegetarian for a month now, I don't eat eggs, fish, etc. I even stopped eating things which contained meats/eggs in them like egg rolls, cake, etc. What are your views on that? Also, I have been waking up every morning at around 4:30 and doing the paht, also doing paht in the evening. I feel like my life is making more sense, before it was all messed up and I feel more focused now. When I close my eyes and pray I get deep in prayer sometimes I can't even sense that someone is at the door, or the phone is ringing etc... When we do paht and close our eyes how should we clear our mind so we aren't thinking about other things? What should our mind set consist of? Thanks so much, God bless, Gur Rakha!

You are not confused. You are experiencing what meditation is. We meditate to master our mind. Best is to have a focus (mantra) that we are concentrating on, but our mind still releases 1000 thoughts at the wink of an eye. Some of these thoughts do come into our conscious mind. That is okay. Just return to the focus of your meditation.
One of the scientific reasons for meditation is that thoughts don't get stuck in our subconscious mind. Having them flow to our consicousness means we can release them and by focusing on the mantra we create a state of "pratya har". That state is to substitute the thought with the mantra.
