I suggest that you ask some. Without being sarcastic, angry or defiant, ask your parents, and other parents. You can say something like, "I have noticed that Sikh parents are very strict with their children. (Define what you think strict means, looks like.) Can you kindly tell me what you think about this. Do you agree? Why do you think this is so? What do you think Sikh parents are trying to accomplish, are afraid of, perhaps?" If you neutrally open the discussion, you may be able to have a good discussion. It may be necessary to talk to parents other than your own, to avoid emotions to flair. Try to put yourself in their shoes. They are probably afraid that their kids are going to fall into the trap of Western errors and don't know any other way to prevent it. It is very hard to be a parent today. The best thing is to have open communication, without judgement. Try to really listen to one anohter. Each time you are going to talk to them, ask the Guru to clear the resistance. Good Luck. GTKK
