Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

Firstly I would like to thank you lot for doing this seva. May waheguru Bless you and keep you in Chardeekala.

Secondly I have been trying to keep rehat as much to my ability, although I am not disciplined enough, e.g, I say before going to bed I will do Simran for an hour or so,but then when I get to my bed I think forget it. I can't be bothered, lol. This is the 5 evils that have got hold of me. I want to know what exactly can I do to control myself from these evils and discipline myself?

Thank You very much, May Waheguru bless u

Sat Sri Akal,

Being disciplined is hard work, but you have to put your mind to it. I've found that it's easier to start small and then expand. Instead of saying, "I'll do naam simran for an hour" say, "I'll do naam simran for 5 minutes". And then do it for only 5 minutes! If you do this for a few days, you will automatically want to do it for 10 mins, and then 30 mins, and so on. In the beginning you will have to totally control yourself and make yourself sit there for 5 minutes and do naam simran. Once you are on the track of naam simran, Waheguru will make it easier for you to do more and more. It is up to you to take the first step, but after that it is downhill. The first step is always the hardest, but be slow and steady.

I hope this helps!

Gur Fateh,
HSD
