(REPLY) Sat Nam. Losing eyesight is to me, a great tragedy. It is understandable that you and your family are upset. The best consolation I can suggest is that you really pray, and pray and pray, and turn to the Guru so that you can accept the fact that even this terrible loss is part of God's plan. We cannot control all of our physical ailments. Medical science has come up with many cures and treatments, but ultimately, we have no choice but to accept God's will, and remind ourselves that it's not the life that matters, it's the courage that we bring to it. And it sounds as if your father is doing his best to live up to that wise saying. It will be best if you can support him in that attempt. Meanwhile, can he learn braille? There are books on tape , and Gurbani Kirtan he can listen to, and though he is - I presume, in India, and you are in the west, you could contact one of the several organizations that work with the blind, to find out how best he can prepare himself to deal with being blind. Perhaps his inner vision will be awakened when the outer goes, and his connection with God and Guru will become stronger. I know it's hard, but I believe your best help is in taking a positive attitude, chanting to Guru Ram Das, and keeping your perspective on the purpose of life, so that this tragedy does not ruin all your lives. Let your father know how much you love and respect him, and do whatever you can in your life to make him proud of you. May God bless you all, and Guru bring you light and understanding to meet this challenge with faith and courage. SP
