Sat Siri Akaal.
I have never heard of this as you describe. The only time I have seen Ardas during Akand Paath is when the Guru being read from is also the gurdwara Guru, and so, as part of a daily gurdwara, the ardas is recited and then the Akand Paath reader reads a hukum --which is the first FULL shabd to come as soon as the ardas and "bolay so nihal" is called. The reader reads the shabd loudly for all to hear, and then returns to quieter reading and the gurdwara service ends per usual. Otherwise, Akand Paath BEGINS with Ardas and ends with ardas as part of a Bhog cermony.
