I would like to respond to the comment posted about "Sikh guys and honesty"

Her comments only reinforce my belief of the decline in moral standards amongst today’s Sikh youth. A lack of spirituality and parental negligence has lead to an entire generation of Sikh youth who are blurring the lines of the Guru’s teachings and how a Sikh should live their lives.

Once again, we see our youth trying to pick and choose which aspects of Sikhi to follow. When Guru Nanak Dev Ji was speaking of equality he did not express it in the context what the young lady who posted these comments did, namely that of Dating.

The moderators of Sikhnet would be well advised to inform our youth that Dating is a western tradition, not a Khalsa tradition in no uncertain terms. It is strongly condemned in Gurbani. It has no purpose in Sikhisim. Yet there are many of our youth who speak of equality but only in the context to support their immoral and illicit behavior and then come running and crying to the moderators of Sikhnet about the troubles they encounter. I say to my fellow youth who are engaging in such lustful and disgraceful activity, stop! You cannot proclaim to be Sikh and do this! There is a reason why you end up getting hurt....guru sahib warns of the dangers and yet you still go against his wishes.

Shame on the boyfriend and shame on the young lady for twisting bani to support her disgraceful activity. Perhaps her comments can serve as a lesson to others out there who may be engaging in such lustful activities.

If you wish to be treated equal, then it begins by taking Amrit. Only then, can true equality be achieved.

This is how you can best set an example and be looked upon favorably by the "king of kings."
