Waheguru Ji,

I was watching a program on TV last night and in it Tibetan Budhist Monks were explaining how to achieve salvation and being one with GOD. My question is that are there other ways to achieve salvation and meet the Ultimate Force other than Gurbani? and can reciting Gurbani alone take you there? In the program Budhists showed many exercises to keep the mind focused and clear of vague thoughts, are there any such exercises in sikhism besides reciting waheguru and if so, where and how can an average sikh attain these tools?
Thank You

Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.

Are there other methods to take you to the experience of Oneness with God besides Gurbani? Absolutely. And as you study Gurbani, you'll find that the Guru teaches this. The same God comes through every religion, gives instruction in every temple and as Sikhs, we see it. That is why we defend the rights of people to practice whatever religion they choose because we know the same God that comes through Gurbani comes through those religions, as well. And we know that it's God Will when and how someone merges - it's not our will.

So God has given instruction in every religon on the planet. What is beautiful about Gurbani is that it is a spiritual practice for the householder. Many traditions have practices where you go off into the mountains and dedicate years of your life to doing exercises and meditations. But our Guru gave us a discipline to merge with the One while still living in the world. And that's what makes us special and unique.

Hope this answers your questions.

All love,

GPK
