Sat Siri Akal.
This is a cultural event happening mainly in India, as I understand it, and so I don't have much knowledge to share with you about why this is happening. What it good to remember is that Guru Gobind Singh gave us the Siri Guru Granth Sahib to be our spiritual guide. However, he also gave us each other to help along the way. If someone very truly and sincerely serves others by helping them understand the words and the meaning of the Guru - that is a very beautiful seva and there is nothing wrong in it. So it really is a question of the intention of the person. It is painfully difficult times and people are grasping to find meaning, peace and ease. My own sense is that we must remember Wahe Guru works in mysterious ways - through every living being. It is best not to judge these things, but to look upon them with the eyes of compassion - to see the pain that people are in, to see the souls that are stepping forward to help alleviate that pain and to remember our first duty is to live the teachings to the best of our own understanding and to know that the mark of a spiritual person is tolerance and wisdom. Sikhi is not disappearing. It can never disappear. It is the Living Truth. Focus on yourself and your own spiritual path, and serve others selflessly to the best of your ability. That is the way to insure that Sikhi will continue into the future.
All love,
GPK
