Saatsri Akaal,

Sorry, I forgot to write this question in my previous post to you people, about what does the Granth Sahib say about cults? I know that the Bible strongly oppresses them. I get Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on my door, there are certain things they say, which I agree with them, but at the same time I have my own disagreements with them, like how they enforce their beliefs on to you, but refuse to debate with your own opinions, and do not approve of your natural thoughts.

I once came across this deadly Christian Cult called: 'International Church of Christ'(ICC), now these people are more deadly than the 'Jehovah's Witnesses'. There are several good websites, produced by former ICC members, how they talk about their personal experiences, and how they finally managed to escape from this cult. It is sad, how the society fails to acknowledge certain issues regarding these cults and how people are being misled by them. My Catholic friend was looking for a new church, because he was not getting much out of his former Church, well one thing led to another, he joined the ICC. When I met them myself, I noticed something odd about their church. Well to cut the long story to short, after surfing the internet concerning this church, I came across a few sites, giving stern warning on this cult. I was shocked to find out that they were cults. I just said straight on their face, of how I felt about their church and I have no intentions of joining their church. I was told by themt hat I will go to hell, for the attitude I gave towards their church and that I was bad.

My friend on the other hand refused to listen to me, but finally he left their church, claiming they were putting too much pressure on him, and they were basically after his wallet. He has now found himself a 'Pentecostal Anglican Church' would whom he is happy with.

(REPLY) I don't have any page number to cite as a reference in Siri Guru Granth Sahib. It is my understanding that Guru Nanak taught his sishyas (students) - who became known as Sikhs, to respect all religions, and never to try to convert anyone. As for what some groups - who may or may not fit the profile of a cult -- do, is their problem, as far as I'm concerned. Thank God, Sikhs don't do it! If your friend finally found a way to worship God that suits him, then that's great. I think all we can do is be grateful we have been blessed to be introduced to the Guru and the path of Dharma in this lifetime, and to share this joy with anyone who WANTS to know about it. Blessings, SP
