respected sir please let me know that can a guruduwara celebrate the birthday of baba RAM SINGH NAAMDHARI , as a gurpurab . In my city BHILAI{CHHATICGARH} INDIA , last week the local guruduwara celebrated this function. please help me.

Sat Siri Akaal. It sounds like the Gurdwara is a Naamdhari gurdwara. If Naamdharis want to celebrate the birthday of a sant, that is their business. If others want to celebrate the birthday of a Naamdhari, that is their business, but it is NOT recognized as Sikh, and it does NOT NOT NOT make it a GURUPURAB. Gurupurabs mark specific events in the lives of the 10 Sikh Gurus who came before the 11th--the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Therefore, the gurdwara in question -- by calling Ram Singh's celebration a gurupurab, has misled its sangat.
