Im a bit confused about the issues being brought up on this site regarding women doing seva at Harmander Sahib. As far as I'm aware it is women who make the food for the langar in Harmander Sahib, which is definitely seva to me. I know Seva is a fairly generic term, could you please tell me exactly what kind of Seva women are not allowed to do there.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. Women are currently not allowed to play Gurbani Kirtan in the Golden Temple, nor are they allowed to wash the floors. We Sikh women around the world are protesting this discrimination, which has no religious precedent, but is based on cultural bias. It is time that women be given equal opportunity to serve the Guru. Thank you for asking. SP
