I recently got married to a turbanned/bearded sikh. myself i'm sikh, too, not amritdhari yet though, although i try my best to be a good sikh and pray, etc. well i have been living in the u.s.a for 7 years now, and before that my family lived in canada. i was wondering are there any suggestions from young couples where a newly wedded sikh couple can go and have a honeymoon in the states where people won't be making fun of us (cuz of his sikh image) and where we can relax and not have the stress of being made fun of in restaurants, beaches, strolling streets/vendors,etc? i guess, are there "safe" and "nice" places- cities - sikhs can go on honeymoon here in states and not be embarrased by the local people or generally ppl? thanks

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Try Los Angeles, or Beverly Hills,California -- lots of tourist places to visit! Or Santa Fe, New Mexico. Contact a Sikh Dharma or 3HO center in any major city in the USA, and I'll bet they can suggest other options. I must say, though, that if you are self-conscious and embarrased, it won't matter where you go,you'll take that problem with you. The thing is to have pride in his Sikh appearance, to feel the nobility and majesty of wearing bana and that self confidence will take away any embarrasment. SP
