I was just wondering, there are so many different religions out there and they all have their own methods of praying, and they all have somewhat different beliefs. How does one know which religion is the proper religion to follow in order to achieve enlightenment?

All religions have their own idea of life after death, how do we know what really happens after we die?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Guru has always said that ALL paths lead to the same One. There is NO single one, 'correct' path, despite what certain well-known faiths maintain. Guru Gobind Singh in his Baynati Chaupa-ee says "Everyone describes God differently, according to their different understandings." (#14)

The One is described differently, but all paths have practices that, when diligently applied, lead to the One. If Sikhi doesn't work for you then explore other paths to see what 'fits' you.

But Sikhi has all the technology and tools one needs to stabilize one's mind, know God and merge in the One. That technology is bani, bana, simran, & seva. The bani of paath and Siri Guru Granth Sahib, the simran, daily, on the Naam; serving others and dressing as warrior saints, when applied diligently and lovingly will give you all what is described in the bani of Siri Guru. The longing of the soul-bride for her Beloved crosses all paths. The merger of the soul-bride is described in mystical terms in all Scriptures.

All Scriptures and paths describe in mystical or allegorical terms what happens after we die. Essentially, we lose the physical form, but our soul, our spirit is immortal. Isn't that enough? Though science has not proved this, there are enough stories, near-death experiences, etc. that have been published to indicate that dying is just a transition from one plane of existence to another.

You can find these things out for yourself by starting in a the metaphysical and religious sections of a bookstore and picking up books on other faiths, paths, death & dying, etc.
