I'd like to take this opportunity to ask those who seem to correlate religion with politics, whether not ascribing to their political views makes one any less of a sikh? Maybe some people simply differ from others in their political beliefs, maybe others just don't believe that politics has anything to do with religion. thus it stands to reason that being Sikh does not require any sort of political leanings. I am quite shocked at the venom directed towards N.American sikhs just because they don't ascribe to a political view. The sikhs who are intolerant enough to say such things must really try and understand the gravity of their words. I don't see the need to seperate sikhs due to their political views, colour, place of origin. All sikhs are equal. Let's try and allow others the freedom of thought and choice, and not judge them on the basis of colour or political views. No offense is meant towards anyone in my words. Bhul chuk maaf karni. Sat Siri Akal.

(REPLY) Thank you for your comments. As you probably know, in the United States, the law requires a separation of Church and State, therefore, politics cannot have any place in Sikh Dharma of the Western Hemisphere. I understand that the situation is has been very different in India. Again, God and Guru bless you for your kind words. SP
