Hi my name is Sukhmani Kaur i am 13 years old and i had a question that why cant people accept the way we are? To be honest i am facially deformed i was that way ever since i was born. During my life i have gone through so many surgeries. I look soo different from when i was born. I am stiill deformed. But noone can understand whats it like to be teased at or made fun of in a cruel way! Please tell me what can i say or do. I am always really hurt and i try not to show it but i always manage to do and anytime kids do that its like piercing my heart, please guide me and i know i have to be brave. I know i should ignore but they would not back off!!! Please help!

(REPLY) Sat Nam. I have never understood what makes kids so cruel. But since everything is God's will, and God created all of us, apparently it must be to test everyone and see just what caliber of human being they are. So, it tests your patience and your courage and your faith, and it certainly tests the kindness -- or not -- of everyone else. So it occurs to me that something you might say to to those stupid ones who tease you is: "God made me this way to test your intelligence, kindness, compassion and decency, and obviously, you are failing miserably! God Bless you!" Of course it's painful for you, and I offer my loving prayers that you will have the courage and the faith to withstand the unkindness of those who fail to see beyond your outer appearance. You must be a very special soul for God to test you so much. Remember, we are all born Divine, and we are here on Earth to perfect ourselves as human beings. I hope you are reading your banis every day,so that you can remind yourself of the reality of life, and the importance of relating to your soul. One of the best banis for self-esteem is Jaap Sahib, by Guru Gobind Singh. It's the one to recite when you are not being respected and valued. Blessings, SP
