Summary of Question:	Changing Your Religon

Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ke fateh.

Some people in our religon(sikhism) have started to change their religon to others such a becoming a Jehovah's witness. What is that all about. Are they commiting a sin? I am a proud devoted sikh but I do know people that have converted to becoming a jehovah's witness. Should I try to convince them to come back to sikhism! I don't know what I should do. I love them with all my heart, they are blood related to me but it feels like we are from 2 different planets. I don't know what I sould do?

If someone you love decides to join another religion, the best thing you can do is to continue to love them unconditionally and accept that they have made a different choice. People convert when they don't feel like they're getting what they need from their own religion, and most people who leave Sikhi probably never understood Sikhi to begin with. Practice tolerance and non-juddementalness. See that everything that happens is by the Will of God, and that, as the Guru teaches, "God Himself leads the man astray and, by leading him astray, instructs him." Stay strong in your own relationship with the Guru and know that, if its the Guru's will, those people will come back. All you need to do is be willing to help them if the Guru decides to bring them back, but don't try to force it from your own desires. Last, but not least, if these blood relations try to convince you that you're going to hell if you stay a Sikh, just remember-every religion has its own PR tactics that it uses to gain market share, and "hell" is one of the best PR tactics ever invented. Stay strong with the Guru, understand what the Guru says, and that will keep you in clarity and truth.
