Summary of Question:	Being Independent....Would God Help Me In That Matter

waheguru ji ka khalsa...waheguru ji ki fateh,

hello...m sharon a 2nd year medical student.....well iv got a q based on da summry up there....i really hope that u can answer me.......im not staying with my family because im studying in overseas.....now m staying in a hostel...i got a fren who is close to me.....i am so close to her till i cant depend on myself even in studies i really need her help.......she is better than me in studies.....in all life matter she is very good in handle it......sometimes we would have problem......we wont talk 2 each other for a while,but i really cant take it...... always even though i was wrong or not....i will go n ask sorry from her.......everytime situation is going like this.....i felt all this once when i came here for my studies....i felt very lonely without family and badly need someone.....at times i think that god has gaven me a chance to be far away from my family and learn how to be independent....but do u think god will help me?will he bless me....i really wanted to be independent rather than making myself fool by going around and bagging for sorry from my friend........would god help me 2 built up my self all alone???/even in studies would he help me????

(REPLY) Sat Nam. There is a saying, "God helps those who help themselves." God is not separate from you, God is living and breathing in you. If you want to be "independent" then you need to learn to depend upon God and Guru. To do that , you need to establish a relationship,and you do that by reading your Banis every day -- especially start your day with Japji Sahib, and recite Kirtan Sohhila before bedtime. As you put more and more of Guru's shabd in your mind, then your mind will be clearer for your studies. There's nothing wrong with getting help with studies from a friend, but surely there are other students, or tutors who can help you also - or instead, so that you don't have an "emotional" dependency upon the friend you mention. You may find it useful to recite ANG SANG WAHE GURU whenever you feel weak, because it affirms that God is within every cell, every joint of your body and your being.
