Hi,

I have a question here and dont know who to turn to...Few years ago my parents brought the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, and it is kept in my room, in a closed cupboard. But I have just realised I sleep in that room, and hence I dont cover my hair when I sleep. Am I committing Paap (Sin). My mum says since the SGGS is in a closed cupboard it doesnt matter..
What do u think?

Your mother is right. The Guru has not been properly installed. Do you have a complete Guru in one book, or the eight volumes. The nice thing about the eight volumes is that you can take out one volume at a time and take a hukum without taking out the whole Guru. If you have an eight volume Guru and ever want to read from the It, you can cover your head, do an Ardas and take out one volume and do a hukum, then properly put it away in the closet again. If you ever want to set up the Guru in a proper place in your home, the book, Victory and Virtue is on Sikhnet and gives you all the proper things you need to do to set up a Guru. We have a special little room in our home just for the Guru . I meditate there every morning. That room feels like the center of our home, the Guru's energy and love radiating from it all over our home and in our hearts. GTKK

Note: When GTKK mentions "eight volumes" she is not speaking of the Bir. She is speaking of Manmohan Singh's English translation of the SGGS.
