waheguru ji ke fateh...
i typed up a good bunch of words but forgot to do the "summary of question"
...so here i am doin' it all over again :) I thank you for having such a wonderful forum. This isnt really a question.. its more like am askin for your suggestion(s). mY friends and i want to help our gurdwara in gettin the youth involved.. i hardly ever see young people ( or my age people.. am 19) there.. unless its a langar sewa by their family member/relative. The kind of system they run in the gurdwara .. i dont think ANYONE learns anything.. let alone the youngsters.. i am very disappointed and i wanna help in gettin youth involved.. would u have any suggestions that would help them learn about our religion and culture??... i really want to help and your suggestion might help me and my friends BIG TIME! something that elders would agree with and go along with...

Dear one,
You have a very great aspiration and project to work on.
First of all, if the youth are allowed to participate, they will have an experience and will feel included.
Request through a supportive elder or a respected member of the community to:
1.have a youth darbar at least once a week or once a month
the youth would do the entire program from kirtan to Vaak
2.form a youth club at the Gurdwara to meet weekly for discussions
a. train in, what is and how to do ARDAS
b. discuss the training of each other in reading Gurmukhi
learning kirtan
learning Gatka
studying stories from Sikh History
c. have a time to discuss social interaction problems and solutions from the perspective of being a Sikh
d. have male and female turban tying workshops
3.Invite a good and inspiring Martial Arts Teacher (i.e Karate teacher/Akido/Kung Foo) to teach once or twice a week to the kids at the Gurdwara.
4.Have the Youth run a weekly story hour on Sunday for little kids coming to Gurdwara with their parents.
5.Form Sikh debate teams and have monthly competitions at the gurdwara .
6.Hold simran, meditaion or Bani recitation meeting every week just for youth.
You are great along with your Sikh friends and Guru's help, you all can do one or some of this.
