i was wondering is it okay to dance/do bhanra to songs with a refrence to beer and or drugs? also is it okay to dance to songs that say "jatt" in them? also people have told me that in some cities kids do bhangra in the gurdwaras basements, can u respond on this

thanks

Bhanga is dance and to dance is good...get the blood flowing etc...I know lot of songs have reference to booze etc. stop focusing on the wordsand just dance and ignore those songs... you can of course walk off the dance floor if a song is not to your liking and tell people them maybe if many people protest they will stop playing those songs.

If a gurdwara basement is being used to dance and helps kids stay out of toruble I personally am all for it.
Remember in many places our gurdwaras also serve as cultural centers.

While I do not like the reference of caste in punjabi songs I think it is more one just to creat e refernce. Once again you can tell people what you feel... Perosnally if you like the music dance to it and practise your life is such a way that all these minor things are left beneath you. Be kind, Be casteless, be gentle, Be brave, and be truthful...watch good things will happen.

good luck
