I'm a mexican sikh who embraced this beautiful path a year ago, though i knew sikhism from before. As you, i met some sikh people, some were converted and others were from Punjab, for myself this makes no difference since what really counts is the purity of your devotion and service to the path. We are really a little number of sikhs here in Mexico, this why we are not easily found. However, if you are interested in meeting the sangat, there are many gurdwaras held often each sunday. I really suggest you to visit Sikh Center in Col. la Condesa, you will meet both punjabi and mexican sikhs and will be able to enjoy the experience of sharing the light of the guru no matter which background we have.
To contact Sikh Center phone 52 86 15 36, ask for Arjan Kaur or Arjan Singh Dhillon.
God bless you.
Sat Dharm S.K.
