Waheguru Je Ka Khalsa, Waheguru je ki fateh

I have been living in the US for 11 years now, and finally realized how important sikhi is. I am just confused about life especialy mine. I feel like nothing good is going to come out in the future. I started to keep my hair and beard thinking that i will find something i am good at. I have started doing paath but i inside i feel like why do you want to sing or read something that you might not even know what future outcome be. I feel like i force my body sit everyday. I dont know if this is good or not.I have trouble repeating whaegur for 15 minutes.I do not know what to do . I feel like the future for me is dead spirtuialy, family wise, and finacially. All the time i have evil thoughts going through my mind. To most of them i tell its wrong what you are thinking of but some just take control over me and i feel so guilty when i do something bad.If posiable, could you give me a satisfactory answer. I am at a point of total cofusion whether to continue on the sikh path or give up because its to hard.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. Many people are feeling upset, depressed, confused etc. these days. The world is in turmoil. We are fortunate as Sikhs to have the Words of our Guru to explain, comfort and strengten us so we can intelligently work out our karma in this lifetime. I suggest that you read Japji Sahib every morning so that you awaken your soul, and recite Jaap Sahib so that the power and courage of Guru Gobind Singh will be infused into your being. Try to remember that each inhalation, each breath you take is God breathing in you! God gave you this life for you to overcome challenges and hopefully remember the reality of your True identity--- you are a Divine being temporarily experiencing life in a limited human form. The physical body is not you, nor is your mind (with all those discouaging thoughts!) YOU. If you have trouble sitting still to repeat Wahe Guru, you might try meditating on your breath first, by sitting with eyes closed, and thinking SAT as you receive each inhalation, and NAN as the breath leaves on the exhalation. Five minutes of this should calm your mind sufficiently so that you can repeat Wahe Guru. There is also a technique of walking while meditating on the breath with mantra that you might like to try. (It is called "BreathWalk" and there is a book about it.) The path of a Sikh may be hard -- but harder still is going through life without the grace and guidance of the Guru! May God bless you with understanding, courage, and commitment to your own highest consciousness. SP
