As far as I know Sikhism believes in One God ,"Ik Omkar", When the belief is in One God, then it is agreed that all religions take you to the same God. Then why is this descrimination done on the basis of religion. Guru Nanak Dev ji fought all his life for equality of religion and human beings to be treated as human beings, as brothers as sisters, then why is this done. According to me this brings disgrace to such a beautiful religion. "deora masit soi pooja namaz ohi"
Please let me know answer to this question. This has caused havoc with my life.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. Common sense would make it reasonable that when someone has pledged and sworn to live as Amritdhari, then marrying anyone who doesn't share that same commitment would not work. When we marry, we become "Two bodies with one soul." If one soul has committed to living as Amritdhari, how can they share that with someone who doesn't want to live that way? Think about it. This is not discrimination, it's just common sense. Fine, we can be brothers and sisters to everyone, but marriage is a union, a sacred bonding and blending. If the other person doesn't share your faith, then why would you want to have them as your partner? Why would you want them raising your children? Blessings, SP
