Reply,

Satnam ji,

When you use your spiritual name, then use the Kaur with it.
For example, you would have yourself addressed 'Amrita Kaur', the princess of purity. The 'Kaur' completes the first part of your individual name.

Share this with your Mom and Dad and let them grow in their understanding of your spiritual path and how you are growing and expanding in consciousness. Give your parents the benefit of being intelligent enough to also, maybe, have a spiritual longing themselves.

Using the guideline of changing your name legally when you take Amrit is a great objective. Yet, if you find you need to change your name prior to that, then respect your inner guidence and move forward with the teachings that have given you this spiritual base and support that you are so gifted with in this life you are walking.

God bless you,
SKKK

Sat Nam..

Ok here is the deal..I was born and brought up with no religion and a European name. I am a Sikh now and want a Sikh name. I have the first name picked out..but do I have to wait to be called Kaur till after Amrit? Im not ready yet...Im still learning..also..I will go by my new Sikh first name but do not want to change my name legally ( dont want to hurt moms feelings) plus..I dont mind having my given name for official documents..ect and my Sikh name for my own spirituality and name among friends. So my question...am I a Kaur yet and do I have to be "baptised" and have my name legally changed? Thank you.
God Bless.
