I read the post when someone was laughing when people say to do things just because the guruji said to do it. I think that that is the BEST reason to do something. There is a shabad which can be found on sikhitothemax.com: http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2546

in this shabad there is a point that needs to be highlighted:
"gurasikh meeth chuluhu gur chaalee ||
jo gur kehai soee bhul maanuhu har har kuthhaa niraalee"
"O Sikhs of the Guru, O friends, walk on the Guru's Path.
Whatever the Guru says, accept that as good; the sermon of the Lord, Har, Har, is unique and wonderful."

I think it's quite clear from this shabad that Sikhs should follow whatever the guruji says because whatever the guruji says is GOOD. at least that is my interpretation of it. let me know if I am wrong.
