Hello ji,

I have a question regarding the whole idea of an aura or a halo. In THe Gurus Pictures u seem them being surrounded by a circle of light, is their any basis for this? And sometimes u hear about real living people being able to see your aura and the color of it symbolizes something. What is an aura? I think that SIkh relgion already beleives in it, im just wondering what it is, and does everyone have one, and do auras differ from person to person? Thanks :)

Sat Siri Akaal. Technically speaking, the halo is an aspect of the aura, and it is fascinating that many paths (Sikh, Christian, Buddhist) depict their saints and gurus and angels with this 'halo' -- which in such cases is meant to indicate the holiness or divinity of the being.

Modern science does not recognize the aura. You could search the Web or a good bookstore and find many books about auras. Nothing in Sikhi SPECIFICALLY talks about auras or halos one way or the other. That does not mean that they don't exist. So, I will say that according to those who see/believe in auras, (1) yes, everyone has one and (2) no 2 auras are exactly alike. This is because every person is synergy of their soul, their body, their thoughts and actions, and all these things (not to mention illness or good-health) are reflected in the aura. The aura is an subtle energy emanation or projection of a person, based on all these factors-- and they can shift from moment to moment depending on one's mood or health, for example. I understand that there are also different levels of the aura; and each level may have different size and/or color. So, for people who see or 'read' auras, we don't know which level they are seeing. If you study the literature, you will also find that there are different interpretations of the colors in the auras.
