Summary of Question:Who Am I Really? (Indian, Jatt, Punjabi Identity)
Category:General Sikhism

I was born in Punjab to a Jatt Family, raised in the Punjabi Culture- Came to Canada and lived most of my life in Canada, became a bapatised Sikh and proud of it. Who am I? Should I call my self a Jatt, Punjabi, an Indian, Canadian, or a Guru ka Sikh, or should I call my self Human being? If I don't accept any one of these titles then am I not accepting God's will? Don't we have to accpet completely of who we are,(where God Put us) before we can become spirtual?

Sat Sri Akal,

It is all maya. There is no such thing as a Jatt, Punjabi, Indian, Canadian, etc. All of these names and cultures will do you no good when you die. Indeed, even being a human being is maya (illusion). One must overcome one's ego and realize all of this. Only your karma and deeds will live with you.

So, how do you want your karma to be? If you want to have good karma then be a Gursikh. Being a Gursikh will automatically make you do good things (if you follow it truly and with your heart).

Gur Fateh,
HSD
