Is listening to rap songs considered bad in Sikhism. I almost never listen to a song with bad cuss words, just with songs that have a good tune to them.

Also I would like to do more patt instead of listening to music, what is the best was to do this when I have very little time becasuse of school and homework.

Rap music has a very destructive tone and impact. Since in Sikhee we have Gurbani to tune ourselves to the sound current for purification and elevation of the spirit soul, Rap music would be considered the opposite. It is angry and low conscious.

A good way for you to begin your Path would be to get some CD's of Bani being recited and recite along with it. I enjoy Ragi Sat Nam Singh's Jaap Sahib. It is very musical and I can recite whilde doing Yoga and brisk walking. Raj Narind Kaur's Jap jiis very nice. These can be done while sitting in the morning before school. I believe it is fine to shower and recite Jap Ji during your morning routine. I encourage you to begin singing your nitnem. You will find happiness and gifts that can never come from listening to Rap.

You will note on MRSIKHNET for Friday a very powerful way of doing Jaap Sahib!

Blessings to you,

SKKK
