Guruprasad is exactly as it says, it is the Guru's Prasad, or blessing to us. It is a physical manifestation of the Guru's blessing, which we eat and can put into our physical body. We chant Japji while making it, to put the vibration of the Guru into it while it is being prepared; then we cut it with a kirpan during rdas to signify the steel of strength being passed into it, while the Ardas is recited, so all the prayers and blessings of the Gurus can pass into the prasad. The sweetness represents the sweetness of Mata Sahib Kaur, when she put the sugar into the first Amrit. Guruprasad is not a typical food to nourish our bodies, it is rather a blessing from the Guru to nourish our souls. GTKK
