Hi Everyone,

I used to be clean shaved but from the last 1-2 years ive grown my hair. Now I have full hair on the head and my dhari's grown too (woohoo!). Ive learnt how to tye a turban but now im facing [:-)] facing the problem of my dhari (silly joke I know).

HOW DO YOU HANDLE YOUR DHARI!

Personally, I'm against cutting hair which as Sikhs we all know. I went through all that long time and trouble of growing my hair and now that it's cut why should I cut it and become an outcast again?

I spoke to a few Bajorg (budhai) in some community centres and In the gurdwara on how to handle my dhari as I dont wan't it sticking out and having to move my hand over it every so often to keep it down.

They recomended
1) FIXO !
2) Grasp it somehow and twist it and tye it somehow (my dhari's not long enough for that!)
3) The classic NET

I'm thinking about using the Net method but are their any other methods. Aparantly a friends brother used to 'GELL' his dhari but that really seems unclean to me and it must be horrible having a soggy shiny dhari.

Your help please

Don't resort to the net. That is accepting the British influence. Try using almond oil on it...lightly oil your beard every night before you go to bed. Brush your beard with a natural brussel brush often. As it grows, it will become more managable. Be patient. It will be worth it. GTKK
