I heard Guru Gobind Singh used 2 tie 18 inch Dumalas before heavanly abode

Not sure what you mean by 'heavanly abode' but it's my understanding that Guru Gobind Singh tied a bhunga (tall style dhamala).
Dhamala is a protective style of turban, it covers the 'third eye' so that no outside forces can affect you and you have to be very meditative to wear it be cause of the 'third eye' covering. It is tied into the hair to become an extention of the hair.
