I have read that as a mark of respect & a sign of our love for Guru Ji's rehat that when we comb our Kesh/hair any loose hairs that may come out should be collected and kept safe >>in other words not thrown away in the garbage>>
Ive read that these hairs should then be ceremonially burnt whilst reciting Keertan Sohila >>> the logic being hair is living part of our body so the same ceremony should be performed as for when a sikh dies or when SGGS has become old and its pages/ang have become worn.
Ive asked a few family members and they say they have heard of this practice, I would be grateful if you could shed some light on the issue ,or a least give an opinion.
I would also be grateful if you could give simple Plain English explanations of the concepts of DASM DWAR , ANHAD SHABAD and seeing "the light " through naam simran >>> all these concepts are enshrined in SGGS but when they are explained it is usually done in a "preaching to the converted" manner not in a straight forward way. I know this is a hard request as they are complex spiritual concepts but I'd really appreciate it .

I cannot reply confidently to your question regarding hairs. Perhaps another moderator will do so. But I can reply to the second part of your question.
The 'dasm dwar' (tenth gate) is one of the chakras or energy centers of the body. When we experience it opening, it is an indescribable feeling of joy, ecstacy, utter humility and love. The head and body are filled with light and the feeling of devotion, love and gratitude is beyond words. The 'anahad shabd' is the constant sound current of creation. In meditation, listening, 'suniai', we can become absorbed in that constant 'music of the spheres'. When we meditate - or when we listen to or sing Guru's shabd - it stimulates the secretion of the pineal and pituitary glands and the chemicals, the neurotransmitters, of the brain change. This brings about a change of consciousness. Energy is released and can be channeled upwards through the shushmana (central channel) to the brain. With Guru's blessing, the tenth gate opens. It must be experienced. Words can never convey it.
