Summary of Question:An "American" Sikh - Perspective From Experience

I began doing kundalini yoga this year a month before my intro to Sikhi. upon my arrival at the Espanola Ashram, before the 3HO Summer Soltice, i began doing sadhana, waking in the Amrit Vela; reading japji, doing a yoga set and then singing or reciting the 7 meditations. sadhana hit me even harder then doing meditation/yoga on their own. i fell head over heels in love with the Naam and have since then been taking my steps towards becoming amritdhari sikh.

i was born in chicago, raised in vancouver with a christian grandmother and a very religiously confused mother. i have know nothing about the Guru's and whahe guru until encountering 3HO. even before, i was doing yoga and reading about indian/vedic philosophies. never have i ever encountered any yoga or teachings which enphasize so much on the fundamentals of a religion(in the case the teachings of the gurus). all i am saying is that whithout first being hooked by the physical benefits of kundalini yoga and mental benefits of Yogi Ji's teachings, i would have never found myself reading, singing, and bathing in the Naam.

yet you have made this comment on 8/07/2003 "Looking At The Aquarian Stage":

The Gurus were the embodiment of the laws of creation. if you are not born into a culture of family privileged enough to know these laws, you will always be seeking. without teachers telling our confused souls "HEY! you're going in the wrong direction if you want FULFILLMENT. stop following your ego. let me show you the truth i have experienced!" and then they give you the Naam! (key part - sharing of the Naam)

Kundalini yoga as taught by Yogi B. is based upon the technology of the Shabd Guru. we do the yoga to strengthen our nervous systems so that we may enjoy our meditations on the Naam. people of america need different catalyst to get them on the right track. without a teacher who understood that, i would still be out there (in hawaii) being a baboon!

i do not understand your intention or your comment. please explain so that i may understand how you feel. thank you for your time.

Whahay Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Whahey Guru Ji Ki Fateh!

Sat Naam
Hansmukh Kaur Khalsa
