Sat nam. All is not lost! Don't cut them. If they are that bad, then please, go to a hair salon and pay the person there to wash and condition your hair and give you some hair care lessons. The right conditioner will simplify undoing the locks. Find a salon that understands your desire NOT to cut your hair. Hair stylists/barbers/these types of folks make a living knowing about hair, and you should not be embarrassed or feel un-Sikh asking for help. Ask them how to better take care of your hair to avoid this problem. Ultimately, some of the hair will break off if the locks (or knots/tangles) are simply too far gone. BTW, some people have naturally kinky hair that is impossible to keep unlocked. I know one African Sikh whose hair is so long and kinky that he keeps it in 3 foot dreadlocks, since there would be no other way for him to keep his hair. Guru ang sang,
