sasrikaal to all

with regards to you response to the woman whose son converted, u replied back saying that someone isnt a sikh by birth, but how the practice sikhism- basically, what im asking is, if a person shaves and cuts their hair, BUT has a strong interest in sikhism, and goes to the gudwara regularly, doesnt drink, is this person not a sikh then?

I would appreciate a reply

Sat SIri Akaal. In MY eyes, that person is not a full Sikh because s/he doesn't appear to practice bani, bana, naam simran, or seva or keep their form. But, who am I? Am I God and Guru and Dharam Raj? God is in me, but I am not the One True Creator. It is my opinion ONLY.

My point here is this: If this hypothetical person SELF-IDENTIFIES as a Sikh, that is her/his business, NOT MINE. Said differently, what anyone else thinks about me is NONE OF MY BUSINESS/what anyone else thinks of this person is NONE OF THAT PERSON'S BUSINESS. Perhaps what you described is as much Sikhi as that person is willing to 'do'. Guru gave us a technology and discipline and instructions for how a Sikh should live and act. One only has to look around any Sikh community anywhere to see that everyone interprets and practices Sikhi variously. What is in each person's heart, and each person's personal relationship to God and Guru is none of my business and should not be judged by me or anyone else. Hope this helps.
Guru ang sang, -DKK
